Flavors, yo! Yes, not just heat, this place brings a plethora of flavors. This is only my second time eating Indian and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. We had some wine while starting with their complimentary Papadums. The sauce had a kick but it was nice. I went safe with the mild Butter Chicken: House Speciality roasted boneless tandoori chicken in spices with tomatoes, butter and cream sauce. My friend went with a vegetarian dish: Paneer Karahi - pieces of cheese and green peppers sautéed with onions, tomatoes, ginger and spices and he added peas. We paired everything with their garlic naan bread. We mixed our plates and then basically shoveled everything into our mouths with the naan. It was perfection. I really enjoyed my Butter Chicken, but the chicken was a little dry, I know weird since it was in sauce but it was just a little too well done. I tasted the veggie dish and it was amazing. I wish I would have ventured with more of a special dish but overall, really happy with everything! The staff was very nice and we were in and out very quick on a Saturday evening.

Very filling buffet. Many vegetarian options. Dishes were mild enough for the children we brought with us. I did not find the decor appealing. We did all order the buffet but no one offered us drink options. Unusual and nice is letting small children share an adult plate without charge. If they have their own plate there is a very reasonable child plate charge.

I experience Indian food for the first time a few weeks ago somewhere else and loved it. I had planned to go back to the other place and bring my boyfriend, but we ended up being closer to Taj on this particular night so I decided to expand my horizons and try another Indian restaurant. We placed an order over the phone for take out at around 7:30 on a Saturday night. I was informed it would be about a twenty minute wait and soon I was headed in for pickup. The inside of the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the staff was very friendly, unfortunately that is pretty much it for me on positives with my experience here. I started with the paneer pakora as an appetizer. Opening the container it looked very different than expected. I have only ever seen them one other place so I googled to see if maybe there are just different ways of prepping, and there are, but none looked quite like this. The fried outside was soggy and overall they weren't worth the calories, though the dipping saucing helped them. For entrees we ordered the chicken korma and the bharta (eggplant). I don't normally like spice at all, but have been feeling a little under the weather and ordered both dishes medium in hopes the spice would help me feel a little better. Both the entrees came with rice and I also added naan. Upon trying both entrees I found no spice at all, and for me to say that is something, because I am very sensitive to spice. I found the chicken korma to be way too sweet and a little spice actually would have helped a lot. The eggplant dish was nothing special and I didn't think it had much flavor, which is odd for Indian food. I was even disappointed in the naan. It didn't taste very fresh to me. When I placed the order I noted that the prices here were about $5 higher on average than the menu prices at the *other* Indian place I had initially wanted to go to, which I don't mind if the food is great and the portions are good, but neither was true. I actually found the portions to be quite skimpy. A few pieces of chicken and sauce really should not cost $17 (I think maybe there were 8 cubes of chicken in the whole dish, so maybe 3 or 4oz total). I did think the rice had a nice flavor. They do a lunch buffet here and a dinner buffet on Wednesday and Sunday nights. I wouldn't be opposed to trying that as it would probably be a better value and I could explore the menu a little more, maybe I just got the wrong things, but I really don't think I would go for dinner otherwise or get takeout again.

My first time trying Indian food so I decided to do the lunch buffet . I'm not sure what the items were so I put a bit of everything on my plate . I was very surprised how tasty and how rich in flavor everything is . The food is like nothing I've had before . My favorite was the yellow sauce with the "bread" and their curry chicken and salad . This is such a nice change from my normal choices of restaurants. The staff was really friendly and laid back. The only Reason I didn't give them a 5 is that they didn't hAve a variety of desserts for their lunch buffet . They had these little Donut balls covered in honey and they were not my favorite . Overall food is tasty and exotic Definitely try the buffet if you want to experience a variety of flavor!

I have tried three other Indian buffets in town and this pretty good. They deliver fresh naan to the table. The Sunday dinner buffet is $20. I started with the lentil soup, which didn't have much flavor compared to the other buffets I've been to (India House and Madras). They do not bring any extras to the table (madras brings Tandoori chicken/shrimp and potato filled crepes) . Madras has more selection on the buffet than Taj. The flavor of the Taj dishes is good. The buffet is refilled as needed. Service was great. Plates were cleared quickly and waters refilled. My favorite item on this buffet was the vegetable korma. I also liked the galub dessert. There was no trace of rose flavoring like at other buffets. I would definitely return.

What an enjoyable dining experience! The restaurant is clean, very friendly staff, and the food is the best Indian food I've eaten locally or while in NYC. Wonderful flavors and variety. This is my new go to for Indian cuisine.

OK indian food - decent range on offer, atmosphere not great and quite expensive. I had the chicken tikka which was good, but the onion bhaji was very greasy. My husband got the chicken saag which was a little soggy. Overall a little hit & miss.

Located in a dated shopping center off Hillsboro in Deerfield Beach, this little cozy little gem served up some tasty food. We stuck with the vegetarian dishes: Eggplant (Bharta), Okra, Cauliflower (Alu Gobi Masala) and the Chickpeas/Spinach (Channa Masala). Although I'm still too new on the place to decide what's my favorite, everything was superb. Service was quietly friendly and efficient. Bottom line: can't wait to go back, and if the experience is as good as the first time, I will happily upgrade this place to 5 stars!

I had the lunch Buffet and as far as I could see, it deserved five stars. ***EVERYTHING WAS HOMEMADE*** and tasted great. All of the meats were tender and the curries were perfect. Their appetizers were good (except the fried cabbage didn't have the right crunchy texture). The desserts are home made and were absolutely the best Indian desserts ever (for a buffet).

Sunday buffet is awesome. Lots of varities, each of them worth tasting. And it's quite reasonably priced

The first thing that caught my attention when I walked in was the traditional, beautiful decor. The staff is friendly and helpful, and always seem to be there when you need them. The food comes out pretty quick, especially for Indian food, but it's past amazing. The naan is crispy around the edges and soft on the inside, the curry is served hot and delicious, and the meat is cooked to perfection. If you're looking for a good Indian experience, this is the place.

Extremely disappointed. Lovely food, but the poor service can ruin any experience. Tonight I placed a to go order, was very excited to pick it up, but once I arrived they claimed that they never received the order. Needless to say I'm going to bed frustrated, with an empty belly.

a consistently good meal with staff who feel like familiar friends in a comfortable Indian home. their lunch buffet usually offers three meat dishes (with tandoori chicken, butter chicken, chicken curry and goat curry in rotation), several legume curries (such as chickpea or lentil), a couple of warm veggie dishes (spinach or eggplant), an array of sweet and savory sauces, chutneys, pickled items and salad, and two desserts. of course, accompanied by freshly made fluffy naan. we felt like having Italian soda and brought our own drink which they accommodated without a thought. polite personable discourse provided a finishing touch, "ah, you don't like the cheese in your sag paneer."

I've eaten here many times and was satisfied with the quality. Yesterday, I had the Wednesday night buffet with 2 friends. Within 5 minutes of finishing, the cramping and gurgling started. What happened next (twice while still in the restaurant), I'll not say specifically. Within 30 minutes of leaving the place, all 3 of us had the cramping and emergency need for facilities. I'm convinced it's from bacteria on the buffet. Maybe the fact the water in the bathroom faucet trickles out at maximum contributed to the problem. Gross to think about, but no joke. I'll never go back. (The service is terrible, too, for the record. Mostly young men with no apparent experience).

Wow, was I disappointed last night !!!! We had been to Taj Restaurant before and actually enjoyed the food. NEW CHEF????? I did not want the buffet, so I ordered the Beef Curry from the menu. The service was a chaos, nobody new anything, by the end of the meal we had had three different waiters, not sure who ended up with the tip????? I was asked by one of the waiters if I would like the dish mild, medium or hot. I said mild, because last time medium was really hot. I do not eat rice so I asked for a substitute and was told I could not substitute, REALLY, I am not able to get some of your already prepared (for the buffet) mushrooms or coleslaw? I guess Taj has not heard of the different allergies that people can have or different diets people are on? Maybe they/we should/can not go out ? OK !!! So I am getting my food served and it is a bowl FULL of a brown sauce with 6-7 bite size pieces of meat; BUT a PLATTER full of rice on the side, which by the way I said I DO NOT WANT. Would you like some meat with your rice????? The meat and sauce did not taste ANYTHING like curry, I am not sure WHAT I ate. And now the topper: I was charged $18.00 for that.... what was it again? The Buffet cost you $20.00 and you can at least get COLESLAW or MUSHROOMS. Well my husband made the better choice I guess. Live and learn. I will sure pass this place by next time and find an Indian Restaurant that will accommodate their clientele.

I come to this place a lot. From many indian food restaurants that I have been so far in Florida, this is the best. I like their buffet especially. They have a great selection of vegetarian as well as non vegetarian . I really enjoy their lamb biryani and chicken tikka masala.

If I could, I'd give them 3 1/2 stars. There wasn't anything wrong with my Taj experience, but nothing really stood out for me either. I was seated fast and noticed that the food was fresh, however it wasn't flavorful or even spicy. They served fresh naan, which would have been a plus, but with the bland foods, it wasn't a good combination. The atmosphere is nice, almost elegant (for a buffet that is). The waiters both were nice, the type of men you could tell held a natural smile, which is nice to see. I really wanted to fall in love with this place, but I cannot say that. Overall, this lunch buffet experience was just average though.

I've been coming here for 10 years and it's always been a great flavorful experience. The butter chicken is my favorite but the tandoori is a close 2nd

After reading some of my friends reviews I started craving Indian food all week. Finally Friday I decided to come to Taj and, just like before, they did not disappoint. We were able to get a table immediately although did notice they were a lot busier than the last time I was here - good for them! Since I'm still kind of new to Indian cuisine, I decided to stick with the buffet. I was happy to see they had the Butter Chicken which is still my favorite, and the nan bread is just as good as I remembered it. This time I also had the Tandoori Chicken, and the Hot Chicken Curry which was spicy but great flavor... I just balanced the heat of it with some rice or nan and it was perfect. The Spinach and cheese was another we liked a lot. For dessert, included in the buffet, I remembered I didn't particularly liked the Gulab Jamun so, I just had a bit of the Almond Rice Pudding, not too sweet, I like the crunch from the almonds, plus it's cold which was great after the spicy chicken. I'm so happy Taj keeps serving great food, with good, fast service and was able to satisfy my craving.

This is another place that I have had booked marked for a while. Ever since I tried Indian food in Boston on a business trip I would crave it just mentioning it to others. I love the spiciness and naan bread is addicting. My boss had mentioned that he found this place and that I should try it. I still wasn't too convinced so I never stopped by but then a few yelpers stated it was really good and I was finally convinced to try it out. They do have 4 stars so what should I be scared about.. right? We decided to come here on a Sunday afternoon just in time for the lunch buffet. When we entered I love the atmosphere and décor. It is cozy and welcoming. The owner was there with one waiter. We were directed to the buffet and ready to try the delicious food. I did not know what to try so I had a little bit of everything. Lets start off with the Naan bread- it was warm and soft. I ate all of them :) This is the moment when I am so happy my BF is gluten-free lol. The Vegetable Samosas are delicious. I love that it is stuffed with spiced peas and potatoes. I love spicy food so everything that had the label "SPICY" I would load my plate with. There were several chicken options. I loved them all. One of the chicken was labeled "SPICY" that one was my favorite and of course I don't remember the name. The lamb was so delicious and not too spicy. It was very tender. The rice was a bit crunchy but a few minutes later they brought out fresh rice. I think the best thing to do is try the buffet when you come here. That way you are not only stuck with one option. You can try a little bit of everything and then enjoy what you really like. For dessert I tried the rice pudding. It was great and I love that it was not too sweet. Service was great and quick. The waiter and owner were on top of things. Making sure we were all enjoying ourselves and that our drinks were always full. Price is reasonable- for 2 people we spent less than $40 bucks and tip included. I can't wait to come here again.

Great lunch buffet- really good selection of Indian curries, vegetables, and dipping sauces for naan. Very clean and authentic decor throughout restaurant.

I had the lunch buffet and I must say that I was not impressed. At all. Starting with the luke warm gutless soup I knew I was going to be disappointed. The rest of the food except the Butter Chicken was bland, tasteless, and mushy. Everything had the same stewed mushy texture. Did I say mushy more than once? The proteins consisted of cheap cuts of chicken and nothing more. Yuck. We won't be back. Two stars for fairly attentive service and a decent glass of iced tea. Lastly, $18 for a lousy buffet, a glass of iced tea, tax, and tip is more than I typically like to spend on lunch

Mediocre at best. The only thing that is good about this place is the fact that if you have a huge appetite then it's an all-you-can-eat buffet.

I've ate here 3 times and the food here is mediocre. I love indian food but most of the dishes I've tried here are too sweet. I gave it 3 stars for the service and for being super clean.

Very nice lunch buffets selection. Butter chicken and Dal were particularly tasty. Surprisingly empty for a Saturday afternoon. We were the only patrons there. That doesn't bode well and its a shame as the food was really good.

I ordered delivery and got the Alu Gobi Masala and the Cheese Naan. It was definitely tasty and came with SO much rice. The naan was great... I may have eaten the entire thing in one sitting by myself.... don't judge haha I am giving it 4 stars because it cost me $30 for a single meal. Definitely more than I'd usually be willing to pay for takeout. However, it was flavorful and delicious.

If your not sure what to order when eating out for Indian the The Taj is a great place for Wednesday night and Sunday night buffet dinners. Then you can try different dishes and learn the names of the ones you like! I try to stay away from buffet because I have such little will power lol but this one I will make an exception.

Usually taj is a nice experience but this time . We went to eat at this establishment again There was a new male waiter . He was very rude and spoke in a harsh tone .He slammed bread on the table . That bread was burnt .The table was broken. He never came to refill our soda"s. We had to ask a different waiter to give us soda"s. He kept giving us dirty looks . He looked unhappy to work there. This new waiter was unprofessional . Some of the food butter chicken and potatoes was cold.

Lover of Indian food...always disappointed by the lack of restaurants around. I was seeing an Indian doctor during my pregnancy, asked him where to go...he recommended Taj. We recently had occasion to try it, it was a Sunday afternoon and they had a great buffet going. Everything I tasted was wonderful. The service was attentive and their iced tea was good quality tea (that's a huge thing for me).

I was going to give this place 2 stars until I saw the bill for the dinner buffet and I decided on 1 star. This could have been an off night but this is only good Indian food if you've never had Indian food before and have nothing to compare it to. First tip off: the restaurant was 75% full but not an Indian in sight except for employees. For any good ethnic restaurant, local ethnic residents will patronize it. This looked like a snowbird/tourist crowd. The variety of food was decent but the magic of Indian spices was missing, replaced with bland/bitter/oily tastes with gratuitous heat from spice seemingly added as an afterthought. The butter chicken was dry, even submerged in sauce - first time I've ever experienced that. Even the fresh naan was bland and dry. When the check came, I was finished with this place. I have had much better Indian food in Manhattan for half the price and Deerfield Beach is not New York City. I've eaten good Indian food in major cities in the US, London and all over India. I've tried many times but there are no Indian restaurants in the entire state of Florida that are worth your time and money.

Its now a trio of Indian restaurants (Taj, Punjab, and Bombay Cafe) that make up a group of over-rated wannabes serving Indian Food. Anyone who knows little bit about Indian food will tell you that Indian cuisine is not about just hotness or spicy gravies. Its more about other subtleties in the food. The food at Taj is an excuse for trying to make Indian food. But does not quite scratch the surface as far as the taste is concerned. The basic problem is with their freshness, taste, and authenticity. In that order. Went to Taj few times. The first time was by my own willingness (and courage) and then for lunches from office. Before I go on my business to rant how bad their food is, I'd like to mention that there are some Indian restaurants, I think, that do some incredible job and have got it "right". Indian Chillies, Taste of India, Bombay Cafe (Wilton Manors) are some of the most preferred. There are others as well but these have been doing a great job so far. So if you are in this part of BPB, I'd admit you are kinda of stuck for choice when it comes to Indian food. But if you are not the one to give up so easily, I'd suggest going further up to Okeechobee or south to Oakland park that now has so many good Indian Restaurants springing up. No matter how bad a place is there is always at least one good thing about it: It has something for vegetarians. There are entrees, appetizers, and rice items that are completely vegetarian. Not sure if anything specifically for vegans. Hey we are still talking about Indian food here that either evolved from the Mugals era that gulped down nothing else but royal stuff or from British Raaj in India who had a tremendous penchant for wild crazy food flowing parties and did not like discarding leftovers from them. Their Indian cooks were pretty creative and served up some dishes that have now become signature dishes of Indian food. So, in a nutshell, the food is going to be rich, with loads of cream, and Ghee (clarified butter). At Taj, over a couple of visits, apart from the buffet, I ordered some of the signature Desi (in this case Indian) dishes like chicken Biryani, Chicken Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, Korma and even Madras. The Biryani was a joke- it was sweet. LOL. l've never ever had a biryani with sweetness to it. We ended up paying $40 and change for 2 orders of Biryani. The Vindaloo is suppose to have kick to it. Although I don't eat spicy food I expected a flavorful and spicy Vindaloo. It was a let down. This is not a dish that needs to be told to make it hot, medium, or mild. It is suppose to be on hotter side. The Butter chicken is a disaster. Pieces of chicken floating in a weird tasting gravy that has loads of cream, butter, and food color. The chicken by it self lacks flavor and the sauce/gravy seems the same all dishes. By now I'd realized that they seem to using the same sauce (base gravy) and even flavoring for all their dishes. The naans, roti, parathas, etc are routine breads. I am not crazy about these breads. They are just a part of the food not the heart of it. Its the dishes that make the heart of it. But each for their own. Although I am quite excited about desserts, I skip them when at Taj or even Punjab. The Gulab Jamuns don't seem fresh and the Kheer (Rice Pudding) is out of sorts. They are pricey for what they serve and their service, without going to much in details, is lack-luster. The problem with some of these Indian restaurants is they try to please everybody to get a larger audience and end up loosing some essential flavor, taste, authenticity, and service. And Taj is a classic example facing this dilemma. Although its a bit of a ride, I'd go a little bit out of my way to eat some authentic Indian food. Since Indian food in this part of BPB is not even mediocre.

I did go back to this place after the bad experience with the manager a few years back. I was with 2 other families and our kids so we did get to order quite a few dishes. The food was good, better than some other indian places I've tried. I gotta say one of my favorites of the night was surprisingly a vegetarian dish called Korma. I thought the prices were a bit pricey but worth it for buffet so that you can try many dishes. Today I came here with my son for the lunch buffet. I called to find out the price and they told me $12.95 for adults and half price for kids 10 and under. When I got my check, they charged me for 2 adults. When I asked about it, they asked me how old he was and I told him 10. They said 10 year olds are full price even though I told them I called before I came here. Pretty good food but real shady practices. 15 minutes for them to bring out a small cup of chai tea @ $3.25!

It was 8 am and we decided to pass on breakfast to make sure we had plenty of room for Shinju japanese buffet for lunch. But since I am still on my "try something new" kick we decided on kicking Shinju to the curb and try Taj after seeing a review on Greshka P's "Lunch Hour" list. Walking into Taj is an awakening to something new; the aroma is immediately recognized as indian spices. The dark wood and indian decor compliment the restaurant perfectly. As I loaded my first plate with a sampling of many buffet items, I quickly realized that indian food is heavy and very rich. It may be an "all you can eat" buffet but no way can over-eat too much with these dishes. It's not a large buffet but that turns out to be perfect. Some dishes on the buffet are marked as spicy... NOT A BLUFF The buffet was loaded with various chicken and lamb dishes; each with vibrant colors and newly discovered scents (no wonder this place smelled so wonderful). The dishes had sauces that introduced me to new flavors I had never imagined and I used Naan bread to clean my plate of those sauces. The buffet had a small dessert counter with rice pudding and some dish containing little beige balls in a sticky sauce. The waiter explained what I was eating, Gulab Jamun (a pastry/dough made from milk and honey). I would tell you dishes I recommend off the buffet but I'd be lying if I pretended to know much about indian food, though I am intrigued and look forward to returning for more.

I can't pretend I know what I was eating but I can tell you it looked and tasted good. I've come here twice for the lunch buffet. Don't expect to find one of those type buffets like the chinese restaurants with various stations and a huge selection. It's a small buffet but don't worry because everything is amazing. The taste, the flavor and the indian seasonings are delicious. Their chicken curry is my go-to dish. Every visit up I tried something new but I always had plenty of chicken curry on my plate. Even though it's a buffet, they bring warm naan bread to the table to dip into the sauces on the buffet dishes. Be warned, if a dish on the buffet is marked as spicy then remember they are not playing around. I love spicy food but this was a little too hot for me. For dessert, they have a teeny tiny little set up with just two dishes, rice pudding and doughy balls soaked in honey. The doughy dish was SPECTACULAR. The waiters are very friendly. We had a question on one of the dishes and they explained the dish so we could know what we were eating. Come hungry but remember indian food fills you up quick.

The lunch buffet was recommended by some foody acquaintances and boy were they right! Cannot wait to go back. More expensive than other Indian buffets I have gone too but at least the taste and quality are worth it!

Outstanding in ÀLL aspects...ordered a variety of entries: lamb rogan josh, butter chicken, chicken tikka masalla...ALL large portions & melt-in-your-mouth TENDER! Garlic Nan had just the right amount of kick & enough basmati rice for another two meals in our "doggie bag" leftovers. A VERY popular place but well worth the short wait. Come hungry...leave very happy.

Love this place! Every time I go it's pretty empty which makes me sad & hope they stay around, but I guess that's a good thing if you're looking for a quiet place. Need a recommendation? Mutton Curry, with Naan bread, veggie samosas, and a glass of sweet lassi. To die for! PS: Their lunch buffet is also great!!

A friend of mine from India recommended this place so I knew I had to check it out. His recommendation was spot on. This place is cute, cozy and delicious. I came here for dinner on a Sunday and they had a dinner buffet for $18.95 (including unlimited naan!). My bf and I both opted out and instead got chicken korma and matar paneer. The paneer was different than I've ever had, not creamy at all, rather tomato basil-y. It was different but very good. The chicken korma was creamy and scrumptious. I could eat their doughy garlic naan dipped in that for every meal. This is definitely my new go-to Indian spot.

  • Naty K.

I don't know, but I was not very impressed with their lunch buffet, and I am surprised this place has such high reviews. The food tasted bland, had barely any seasoning, and was a bit on the greasy side. The chicken was dry, as if it had been sitting there for a while, and the goat was full of bones. I have been to several Indian restaurants and lunch buffets, and this one did nothing to impress me. Frankly, I felt it wasn't worth the hassle of driving all the way there and dealing with the parking situation, which was bad, due to the Arts Festival. I don't see myself driving all the way here for food that did not do much to impress me.

Overpriced, mediocre. Their hours are impossible to figure out, and I can't ever get in there when they are serving what I want. Apart from that, the food is pretty middling.

Found Taj on recommendation of an Indian friend- I would marry that man now that I have eaten there. Really the lunch buffet is spectacular. They have some great options you don't usually see like chicken korma and butter chicken. The chicken curry is freakin' awesome and the spice is oh-so-nice. Me likey. It's a little dark in there but there's plenty of space and the dessert is also quite delicious, they have the best kheer.

We really wanted to have a nice Indian lunch buffet option close to Boca. Unfortunately we were disappointed by this place. Like some other reviewers noted, the lunch buffet options were bland. When you go for Indian food, you're probably looking for a spice sensation. We didn't get that here.

I ate here cuz I was craving Indian grub in my new 'hood. Ordered my staple, some paneer and garlic naan. It was tasty, but like some other reviews state, a lil pricey. Not that there was anything wrong w/ it, but it just cost a premium that you could have (in Chicago where I'm from) for much cheaper. I spent $18 on that order. And buffet is $19. I'll probably try the buffet another day and edit accordingly. It looked good. Small samosa w/ lots of "normal" food items to choose from like lamb vindaloo and biriyanis. Food is good. I just am used to living near Devon St in Chicago where similar food is 25% cheaper. There aren't a lot of Indian restaurants in Deerfield Beach/Lighthouse Point, so I guess they can charge a premium.

Taj is very popular, and my brother loved it when he lived here. I've been to the lunch buffet a few times, and it (buffet) is good; however, the menu items are VERY expensive. Seems they are using the menu as a means of subsidizing the more reasonably priced (although still not cheap) buffet. Today I ordered malai kofta (was only 3 balls, instead of the 4 or 5 other restaurants provide), naan and onion chutney (not good - very tomato-y, not a lot of onions, very red and goopy) and it was $23!!!! Aaah! This same order at Punjab would be $15, been a larger portion and tasted much better! The malai kofta had a strong peanut butter flavor and there were raisins stuffed in the balls - raisins are #1. disgusting, reject grapes that don't belong in prepared foods, and #2. cheap filler food, just like peas. I don't mind paying for quality, memorable, delicious food, but Taj just made me feel ripped off and disappointed.

Really good Indian food. Lots of flavor. Nice place but nobody in here. People need to quit being haters.

What a hidden gem! Started off with meat samosas, proceeded into lamb vindaloo and washed it all down with some king fisher. A must if you craving authentic Indian food.

BUFFET WAS FRESH! All the meat melted In your mouth not over cooked like some Indian restaurants! Attentive and friendly staff! Very clean. We enjoyed every bite!

Great review! Went here for the first time with a friend recently. I had a honey chicken dish and he had chicken tikka. Both of them were absolutely amazing. The (extremely friendly) waiter gave us this red/orange sauce to go with the tikka, which was spicy and SOOO good! The place was decorated lively and in an Indian-theme. Also had my first Indian Mango drink there and loved it. My stomach couldn't have left happier!

Very nice ambiance, dim lights with traditional Indian music provide the perfect atmosphere to enjoy truly great Indian cuisine. Were were a party of four and we ordered the following dishes: *Saag Lamb-lamb with herb spinash sauce *Shrimp Bhuna-jumbo shrimp with spiced onion, green pappees and tomato in a purée type sauce *Alu Gobi Masala-cauliflower with Marsala sauce (vegetarian) *Malai Kofta-sesoned cheese balls in a cream spice sauce and Shrimp Makhni-jumbo shrimp in a tomato cream sauce All served with Rice Pulao-basmati rice with Indian spices and an order of Roti bread and Mango Lassi. Everything was just great, flavor was great even for the medium choices. The service was also very good, right on time and in the pocket. Overall the experience was totally worth the price $12 to $16 per entree, and we will definitely come back and bring our friends. Do visit the Taj and note the restaurant is on the west side of the Plaza, our GPS did not pull the location correctly. Enjoy this truly Indian experience without breaking the bank :D

Taj is a great spot for Indian food. The spices are fresh, place is clean and the staff has been the same for years and are very nice. Expect to spend about $20.00 per person. It's worth it but its not your everyday spot. Although they have a good buffet for lunch.

Dal Makhani was very salty...not sure why, but they do use great spices (I tasted fresh ginger). The Yellow Dal dish was kind of skimpy on the lentils, but was excellent tasting. I would go back to try something else if I was in the area, am definitely interested in the lunch buffet. Prices a little high for the small quantity of food (re: dal makhani, and yellow dal dish) 13.95 for a small bowl, should be priced at 9.95 at the max, in my humble opinion. But its not a bad place at all.

Good food, quick service. I carried out a butter chicken and a garlic naan. If I was a smaller guy, I would have had enough for two meals. The chicken was a tad dry, but was roasted in the tandoori oven before being bathed in the sauce. I was slightly concerned with how quickly the meal was ready, and how empty the restaurant was. The sauces must be premade. The food was good, with a nice flavor and the right amount of heat. The naan was warm and soft with some crispy bits. The only problem I had was the price - very expensive. 23 dollars for one main and some naan. Because of the price, I can't see myself becoming a regular.

My husband and I went here for a dinner on a Saturday night and had a great time and meal. Service was good but not needy and checking on you every 5 minutes and the food is great. We had an appetizer sampler and lamb curry to share. The appetizer was great as we got to try 3 or 4 different items. Unless you are an indian food enthusiast do not order the hot or you will feel it the next day LOL. Definitely worth a try.

The food is amazing! The service could be better, but it's not that big of a problem if you're there for the buffet. Every piece of meat is clean and free of fat! The buffet has lots of options and it's all delicious!

I would give it 4 1/2 stars but Yelp! won't let me. The food is amazing! And the decor and ambiance make me feel as if I traveled to India. Love this place!! I left half a star because I prefer my food to be warmer than it was but I got there when it just opened, so perhaps they don't overheat their food for the buffet. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!

Love their food and service. Best Indian food we have tried in this area. The buffet is good, it has a good variety.

I dont care what anyone says...Taj is the best Indian in the Boca/Delray/Deerfield/Pompano area. It kills Punjab and Madras Cafe and is far more authentic than Curries& More. The biggest difference is the quality of the food. Some indian restaurants skimp in this department and you end up with dry, stringy meats and tough breads. Not Taj. The meat is almost always tender and delicious. Sauces have a fantastic blend of spices and are CONSISTENT in their flavor profiles. The naan's and roti is always hot and soft. If youre looking for good Indian in this area....Taj is the best. And trust me...my wife and I drove in about an hour radius and have tried every other Indian.

Cannot comment on food only on service. Midweek dinner. Lightly staffed. Person seating us was kind of rude at the entrance and simply forgot to bring us the high chair so after 5 mins we just walked out ( first time ever ). We ended up next door at Case Maya which was a 5 star experience.

I have never written a review before, but I always read them. I decided to order take-out from Taj, on a Friday afternoon. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and a side of Nann. THIS WAS THE ABSOLUTE WORST I HAVE EVER HAD!! The chicken was not marinated, just plain! The masala broth was just runny with no cream! I asked for Medium-Hot spice and my toungue wasn't even feeling any heat!! The order had only 7 cubes of chicken in it, with a runny(creamless) broth!! Just awful!! Then, to make matters worse, the Naan was tiny!! The size of a salad plate!! And all for $20.00!!!! This place sucks!!! I have tried Taj, Bombay, and Punjab. None even come close to the amazing experience I have had numerous times at KHANA KHZANA IN CORAL SPRINGS. They are the absolute winner in The Best Indian Food !! I am willing to drive there for a wonderful, Chicken Tikka masala with absolutely the BEST NAAN in the vicinity!! And the lunch with naan from Khana Khzana is only $13.00 with naan and rice !!!!There is NO COMPARISON!!! TAJ is such a disappointment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is our favorite Indian restaurant in our area. It is my vegan son's favorite restaurant hands down. The food and service are consistantly good. The ambience and decor are lovely. If we lived closer we would eat here more often we love it so!

$11/person lunch buffet. A little much for lunch, but if you go hungry, it's worth it. Friendly service, tasty food - and a wide variety of it! If I'm in the area, and hungry enough to make it worth it, I'll be going here again.

Am rating Taj five stars comparing it to other area Indian restaurants - most of which we have tried. We are fairly experienced with Indian food, having loved it for years. We therefore prefer to order from the menu for freshness and a bit more spice than buffets provide. Visited Taj on New Year's Eve. Less of a crowd than usual, but that was expected. Ordered a new menu appy Alu Tikki, which was an excellent starter. Once the appy was served, we then ordered a shared dinner, which included Chicken Sag, Keema Mattar, Rogan Josh, Naan bread and Indian pickles. Kingfisher beer to drink with the meal. The meal was outstanding, as was the service. We took home enough for two more meals - but that is our custom. All, including wine, came to $82. As much as we like some of the other local Indian restaurants, such as Madras and Punjab....Taj is the best.

Top notch. The Lamb Korma was excellent as was the good old Butter Chicken. The owners are friendly and will chat about Cricket if you're interested. The Nan Bread is authentic and super yummy.

This place is surprisingly good, considering the mediocre food that overwhelms South Florida. For starters, the restaurant is extremely dark. You can barely see the cool decor. The food was tasty and the selections were fresh. My biggest con was the price. Originally from NYC metro, i'm used to paying $7-10 pp for lunch buffet. This place was $13 a person, and as good as it was, it wasn't the best I've had. It was only after we were leaving that the waiter told us it included wine or beer (i think, I couldnt really understand him) it was strange that he mentioned the wine and beer as we were leaving, bc they did not ask us what we wanted to drink when we sat down) In all, the food was good, service ok, price could be better.

This is the first indian restaurant I have visited in South Florida. I think the last time I had this type of cuisine was at least 10 years ago on Long Island so the previous reviews were extremely helpful. We went on a Wednesday night and didn't realize it was a buffet night there. Actually was a good thing as I ordered off the menu and my boyfriend tried a variety at the buffet (he took one for the team as he is not a buffet lover). Again, based on the previous recommendations on yelp, I ordered the Rogan Josh (is that right?) and it was AMAZING!!! We had no issues with the waitstaff, there was always someone available to help out, refill waters, etc. For a buffet, there were a few items that really stood out that were outstanding (butter chicken, cucumber salad and the chick pea salad were my favorites) and I did see them changing over the dishes a few times to ensure everything was fresh. I am a huge fan and will be back! Thanks for the great recommendation.

This small place has a decent buffet, and the food is good.....but they have the same selection every day! As in, they do not change the choice on the buffet from day to day! i have never been to a restaurant that does this.....Anyway, the limited selection does taste good, and the buffet is only $11, not $19 as previously posted.......

The staff is five stars, the food is five stars, and the buffet is off the charts. It was well worth the price, especially the lunch. I used to frequent Taj once a week and I sorely miss it. When I return to South Florida, it will certainly be our first stop!

Not too many Indian choices around my hood but this one is worth the drive. Good food, very consistent, good service. A little bit pricey but not too bad. I just had the lunch buffet for the 1st time (I hate buffets) and it wasn't bad at all. Got to try some stuff I normally wouldn't. Chicken Korma dominates!

The food was alright, but not worth the $20 per person for a dinner buffet. It was also very dimly lit, but not offset with a candle on the table or anything. My friend also felt like it was pretty dark too. The lights keep flickering on and off. I don't think I'm going back any time soon.

I don't know much about indian food but this restaurant was really good to me. The dishes could be pricey but a friend and I just ordered one dish with rice and naan, that was enough for the both of us. Including an appetizer of vegetable samosas. The food, price, and service was good, even though i felt the waiter pushing us to order more food.

The best Indian you will find in this part of Florida. Great food, great service, and a nice place to spend dinner.

This place was pretty good, though lunch buffet prices were steep at $10.95 a head. Also, it's annoying that you can't order from the menu even if you choose to. The sweet lassi, chicken tikka, beef curry (tender yummyness), and black lentils were all noteworthy. The ambiance is clean and well-appointed, if not a tad sterile.

My boyfriend an I went here, and we were expecting a buffet. We went on the wrong night. This did not matter, the food was amazing! We started off with vegetable somosas, which were great! For our entrees, I had the mahi-mahi, and my boyfriend had the Tikka Masala, along with garlic naan. The garlic naan was just a bit over cooked, but was still tasty. That was the ONLY thing wrong with the whole meal. The service was fantastic as well. It was all wonderful! Will be back no matter what!
